Brewer Science preparing expansion into Strafford manufacturing plant

Rolla-based Brewer Science Inc. has purchased a building in Strafford’s South West Missouri Rail & Business Park, but the company is not revealing its plans for it.

“It’s going to provide some immediate growth for us,” said Ryan Moss, Brewer Science executive director for smart devices. “We expect for it to be manufacturing space for some next-generation products.”

Moss also said he couldn’t say much about the plans but verified the purchase of Lot 6 in the industrial park, as described in a December public records listing in Springfield Business Journal – an $11.7 million purchase with Commerce Bank as the lender.

Brewer Science describes itself on its website as a leader in materials research. It states its technology portfolio includes lithography, packaging, smart devices and printed electronics to enable microdevices and monitoring systems for industrial, environmental and air applications.

Rich Kramer, developer of the industrial park through RCR Ozark LLC, declined to offer a detailed comment on the purchase, noting in an email that he had signed a non-disclosure agreement.

“They are quietly going to build inside the building they had purchased, and I don’t know what their total plans are,” he said.

Moss said Brewer Science will not be starting its Strafford manufacturing operation immediately, with construction to modify the building to take place through the first quarter of 2026.

“We will expect to add some jobs in the near future, but I can only give generalizations,” he said.

A brochure by real estate firm R.B. Murray Co., which brokered the deal, lists Lot 6 as 10.4 acres at a cost of $70,000 per acre. The industrial park is sited at Highway 125 and Highway OO in Strafford.

Brewer Science’s website lists a headquarters at 2401 Brewer Drive in Rolla, with an additional location in Springfield at the Jordan Valley Innovation Center at 524 N. Boonville Ave.

Other manufacturing facilities and offices are located in Vichy, Missouri, as well as England, France, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
