Branson’s Moon River Theatre put on market

Posted online

A theater property brought to life by singer Andy Williams has been listed on the market.

Mike Fusek, listing agent with SVN Rankin Co. LLC, said the theater that’s currently open is owned by Moon River Theatre LLC. It operates as the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center & Theatre.

“We are not sure what the new owner will do with the property,” Fusek said via email, noting hotel developers and an out-of-town theater operator have expressed interest. “Because it has been highly successful and profitable in the past, the new owner might continue as a theater, or a developer could buy the property and have a different use for it.”

Singer Jimmy Osmond, a friend of Williams, purchased Moon River Theatre in 2014, according to Osmond’s website. Williams died in 2012 at age 84 after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Williams opened his $12 million, 2,000-seat theater in 1992, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

The asking price for the 2600 W. Highway 76 theater is $6.7 million. The roughly 45,000-square-foot property on 11.6 acres is located in a federal opportunity zone, according to the listing.

Andy Williams Performing Arts Center & Theatre’s website has shows listed through Dec. 7.
