Authorized Apple product retailer Simply Inc. (OTC: SIMP) relocated its sole Springfield store.
The company, which does business as Simply Mac, opened Jan. 30 at Brentwood Center North, according to a news release. That's across Glenstone Avenue from its previous home since 2013 in Battlefield Mall.
"Continuing our effort to reevaluate all of our store locations when coming to the end of a lease term, we decided to stay in Springfield, but to relocate," Simply Mac CEO Reinier Voigt said in the release. "Our new location is just across the street from our old store, but our total occupancy cost in the new space is 57% lower than the cost at our previous location, which will improve this store's profitability."
Simply Mac occupies 2,225 square feet at 2714 S. Glenstone Ave., Ste. 2714. Simply Mac Chief Financial Officer Vern LoForti said via email the company signed a five-year lease for the six-employee shop. Lease terms were undisclosed.
The store is located between Gloss Nail Lounge and Blackwells clothing store, according to a property listing with Jared Commercial.
The Apple store joins an increasingly popular multitenant property. Buff City Soap Supply LLC and Charity Fent Cake Design LLC are among companies that recently announced plans to open stores in Brentwood Center North. Lululemon and Milan Laser Hair Removal were among businesses that launched shops at the center last year.
The property is nearing full occupancy. The Jared Commercial property listing shows nearly 3,200 square feet available in the center; Brentwood Center North spans roughly 124,000 square feet, according to Greene County assessor records.
New tenant Simply Mac offers Apple's suite of products, as well as third-party accessories and repairs, according to the release. The Miami, Florida-based company operates 43 stores in 17 states.
Simply Mac entered Springfield in October 2013 with the mall store, according to past reporting.
