In its first support of a proposition, Care to Learn-Springfield donated $5,000 to the Quality Schools for Kids campaign in support of Springfield Public Schools’ upcoming $189 million bond proposal. The money was personally raised by Care to Learn board members, including President Jerry Harmison, who presents the check to fellow board member and Quality Schools for Kids co-chairwoman Stephanie Stenger Montgomery outside Disney Elementary.

Missouri State University student Katherine Alford, center, won the Braum’s-Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway of $23,000 toward college tuition. Running two months, anyone over 18 years old in Braum’s five-state footprint could enter the contest daily via text. Alford, a sophomore majoring in animal science, entered just once. “When I first found out I won I wanted to cry,” she says. “Since I am paying my own way through college.” Alford is pictured with the Braum’s Inc. management team, including President and CEO Drew Braum, who’s also holding the check.
Logistics company Premier Truck Group is building a new truck sales and repair facility in Strafford, using precast contract, metal framing, thermoplastic polyolefin roofing and standing-seam metal in its construction.
