YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
“Volt is different and we’re proud of it,” says Vicki Owens, Chief Experience Officer with Volt Credit Union. That difference is evident with the first step toward employment. The Volt job application states, “we’re looking for a MacGyver-esque individual to defuse high-pressure situations using duct tape, toothpicks, and proven leadership skills”.
In addition to highly quotable job applications, another thing that sets Volt apart is that employees are allowed to wear comfortable clothes – Volt wear and jeans – to work. Owens says the idea is that employees and members feel at home while they are here. The added benefit is that employees have more freedom to express themselves in their attire. This allows us to present a more genuine, human approach to our members and guests.
“We’re not just a group of coworkers here; we are a family who sincerely cares about each other’s career growth and well being. If you’re having a bad day, there is always someone in the office ready to cheer you up,” says Owens. “If you are sick or have something come up that prevents you from coming in, we understand and pull together to fill your role while you are out.”
The team at Volt also lives by the credit union philosophy of people helping people and is consistently striving to increase its impact in the Springfield community. Volt sponsors many charitable events that benefit nonprofits throughout the year. These nonprofits include the Child Advocacy Center, Harmony House, Help Give Hope, Victory Mission, Borrow My Angel, CASA, member and community educational scholarships, and the Children’s Miracle Network.
“We care about our members, we care about our employees, and we care about our community,” says Owens. “We value every one of our employees and what they bring to the table, including their individuality, their creativity, and their innovative ideas.”
