US government set to appeal AT&T, Time Warner decision

The U.S. Department of Justice plans to appeal the AT&T and Time Warner merger decision.

The federal government last month lost a case it brought to block the deal.

Legal filings submitted Thursday indicate the government will appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

"The court’s decision could hardly have been more thorough, fact-based and well-reasoned," David McAtee, AT&T general counsel, said in a prepared statement. "While the losing party in litigation always has the right to appeal if it wishes, we are surprised that the DOJ has chosen to do so under these circumstances. We are ready to defend the court’s decision.”
