Scrivener Oil Co Inc., the parent company of the Signal Food Store line of filling stations, plans to relocate its headquarters to Ozark from Springfield this summer.
John Torgerson, senior partner for Torgerson Design Partners LLC, confirmed this morning Scrivener is relocating to 1603 State Highway J in Ozark from its current corporate home at 2415 S. Campbell Ave. Springfield Business Journal included the plans for Scrivener’s Ozark office in its
Summer 2015 Architects & Engineers Project Report, but the relocation of its headquarters from Springfield was first reported this week by the
Christian County Headliner News.
Torgerson Design Partners is serving as architect for the roughly $700,000 project, which sits across the street from one of Scrivener’s Signal stores. The office is being added to an existing building that houses a Papa John’s and Comet Cleaners.
The project cost was previously $1.1 million, but a redesigned facade lowered the cost, Torgerson said.
General contractor MSB Inc. is working with mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. on the project expected to be completed in June, according to information provided to SBJ for its upcoming Architects & Engineers report.
Torgerson said it’s his understanding some of the Scrivener owners live in the Ozark community, which is consistent with what the company’s vice president, Sean Bumgarner, told the Christian County Headliner. Bumgarner could not be reached for comment by deadline.
ScrivenerOil.com lists 11 Signal stores in southwest Missouri, including three in Springfield. Three of the locations double as food establishments with the likes of Subway, Quiznos and Hank's Chicken, Fish & More. Richard Scrivener started the company in 1984, first launching a Signal store in Ava.
Its Springfield headquarters also doubles as a Signal store.
