The development-heavy city of Republic has a new spokesperson to tell its story.
Allyssa Dudley started Sept. 20 as the city's public information officer, according to a news release. She fills the role vacated this spring by three-year spokesperson Mike Landis, who accepted an anchor and reporter job at KOLR10.
“With the changes in growth and development our community is experiencing, our communication efforts must grow with the community, and I am excited to watch as she helps us achieve that objective,” Republic City Administrator David Cameron said in the release. "She has a diverse background in communications that will allow her to connect with our staff, citizens and communication professionals.”
Dudley started her career as a journalist, including stints as a staff writer and digital editor for Missouri Lawyers Media. She most recently worked as director of communications for St. Louis-based GB Entertainment and oversaw digital growth for sports interview show "In Depth with Graham Bensinger."
A native of the area, Dudley attended public schools in Republic and Springfield before graduating from Drury University, according to the release.
The city of Republic has been in growth mode in recent years with projects such as Amazon's 1.3 million-square-foot fulfillment center and Convoy of Hope's 230,000-square-foot distribution center.
Two candidates are vying for a seat being vacated by term-limited Springfield Mayor Ken McClure, who is serving his fourth and final two-year term.
