While many companies struggled to plan for the Department of Labor’s scheduled overtime rule change, the recent injunction hasn’t necessarily been relieving, writes Moresource Inc. President Kat Cunningham.
In Missouri Business, the magazine published by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cunningham says preparations made – such as reducing workloads or increasing wages – are not easily undone.
“Most employers aren’t going to feel comfortable simply pushing rewind on all they’ve done – such a move might save money but would also torpedo employee relations and job satisfaction,” she writes in the column.
The best tactic, she says, is to stay on top of it as it develops and use long-term planning tools.
