The Sugar Shots Bakery
A longtime employee in health care made a professional pivot with the July 16 opening of The Sugar Shots Bakery LLC at 612 N. 25th St. in Ozark. First-time business owner Trixie Batts said startup costs were $15,000 for her 1,900-square-foot bakery, which sits between B&B Theatres and a Big Whiskey’s eatery. Batts signed a five-year lease for an undisclosed rate with B&B Theatres. The space sat vacant for several years after a location of frozen yogurt chain Yogurtini closed, she said. Sugar Shots Bakery’s products include cakes, cookies, pies, cupcakes and cheesecakes. Cookies start at $1.50 and cupcakes at $2.50, while cake sizes as small as four inches begin at $15. Sugar-free, gluten-free and keto options also are available. Batts said she worked in health care for 25 years, most recently at assisted living and residential care facility The Essex of Ozark. The brick-and-mortar bakery comes after Batts said she spent the past year baking cakes and cookies by order in a rented kitchen space.

24/7 Golf Performance
After more than a decade of experience as a golf instructor, Springfield resident Sean Saunders launched 24/7 Golf Performance on May 20 at 1864 N. Commerce Drive in Nixa. The golf instructional facility operates under the SWS Golf LLC Saunders created in 2008. A golf professional since 2009, he coaches the sport and serves as a personal trainer with American Council on Exercise and Titleist Performance Institute Level 3 Fitness Professional certifications. Startup costs were $130,000, Saunders said, adding he signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Stormy Properties LLC to occupy the 3,700-square-foot space formerly filled by Launch Church. He said 24/7 Golf Performance has four bays, two of which are dedicated to coaching. The other two bays allow for customers to have simulated play on dozens of courses, including Payne’s Valley and Mountain Top in the Branson area. The subscription cost to access the bays, which have 24/7 access, is $100 per month.

Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce
The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce relocated its office June 1 to Hidden Waters Nature Park, 720 W. Hubble Drive. It operated the past five years at 1329 Spur Drive, Ste. 130, said Rachel Andrews, chamber coordinator. Relocation costs were minimal, she said, declining to disclose the amount or two-year lease rate with nonprofit organization Friends of Hidden Waters Inc. Andrews is the chamber’s lone paid employee but said she receives help in the office and at events from the organization’s 15 volunteers. While the office fills just 200 square feet in the building, she said the chamber also has storage space on-site and shares a conference room with Friends of Hidden Waters. A portion of the 10-acre park, which includes walking trails, ponds and waterfalls, fronts historic Route 66.
