Nixa was named one of Time Money magazine's seven best places to retire.
Money calls Nixa the "best for belt tighteners" on the list, which isn't ranked.
With a 50-plus population of 31.6 percent, the county's median home price is $166,078 and the average property tax is $1,598, according to Money magazine.
"Use those savings to enjoy nearby attractions such as a jeep ride through the Fantastic Caverns, a tour of the National Tiger Sanctuary or a stroll through the 114-acre Springfield Botanical Gardens," the article reads.
