Kioti Tractor honored S & H Farm Supply Inc. as one of 53 dealerships in North America to receive 5-Paw certification for overall performance.

Education
Ye Wang, an associate professor of communication sciences and disorders at Missouri State University, was awarded three grants totaling $108,000 from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The grants are funding scholarships for students enrolled in MSU’s deaf and hard of hearing education program, an online initiative to educate preschool students who are deaf or hard of hearing and a see-the-sound/visual phonics workshop.

The southwest Missouri chapter of the Public Relations Society of America selected Evangel University senior Irene Kanthan to receive the $1,000 Dr. Joe McAdoo Memorial Scholarship for the 2013–14 academic year.

Finance
Elizabeth Russell, administrative assistant for Modern Woodmen of America in Springfield, completed a four-day educational program at the member-owned fraternal financial services organization’s home office in Rock Island, Ill.

Government
USA Today ranked the city of Branson No. 5 in its list of “5 Great (Unknown) Places to Retire” in the U.S. Other cities chosen – based on low costs of living, favorable taxes, low crime rates, active downtowns and quality medical facilities – include Hendersonville, N.C.; St. Augustine, Fla.; King of Prussia, Pa.; and College Station, Texas.

Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Jill Patterson, the chief legal counsel for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, to the Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board and Bill Compere, Greene County treasurer, to the Public School Retirement System of Missouri Board of Trustees.

Marcia Smith, a workforce development specialist at the Missouri Career Center, was certified by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, recognizing training and expertise in the history and structure of workforce development systems, collaboration, problem solving and customer service.

Health Care
Cox Medical Center Branson’s laboratory earned a two-year accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, which aims to advance pathology and laboratory services through education, standard setting and ensuring labs meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

CoxHealth registered nurse Vicki Good was named board president for the 500,000-member American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. The administrative director of patient safety for CoxHealth, Good also was recently selected among the “50 Experts Leading the Field of Patient Safety” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Michael Murrell of Murrell Counseling Service LLC was honored with a certificate of recognition for 30 years of service to the mental health profession and the practice of clinical psychology at the annual meeting of the Missouri Psychological Association.

Insurance
Empire Bank Insurance Agency named Brent Cox an account executive. Cox, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, is targeting commercial insurance lines but also is licensed to sell life, health and personal insurance.[[In-content Ad]]
