Netflix fired chief communications officer Jonathan Friedland for using a racial slur at least twice in the workplace.
CEO Reed Hastings credited Friedland with helping to strengthen Netflix’s brand but said his accomplishments do not outweigh his workplace behavior.
“Unfortunately, his lack of judgment in this area was too big for him to remain,” Hastings said.
In a memo, Hastings said Friedland’s “descriptive use of the N-word” occurred several months ago at a public relations meeting about sensitive words.
