MLS stadium in STL won't be on April ballot

The city of St. Louis' April ballot will not include a Major League Soccer stadium funding question, according to the legislation's sponsor.

Alderwoman Christine Ingrassia wrote on Twitter a proposed use tax to help build the $200 million stadium won't be up for vote on the April ballot.

Jim Kavanaugh, a potential owner of a St. Louis MLS team through the SC STL group, said if the legislation doesn't move forward, the MLS stadium could be a casualty.

“If we can’t get the support of the city and the state,” he said, referring to Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens’ refusal to help fund the stadium with $40 million in state tax credits, “then this thing is just not going to happen.”
