Mercy Springfield Communities' pediatric center in partnership with Kansas City-based Children’s Mercy has reached a milestone.
The final beam is slated to be put in place at the facility this afternoon, according to a news release. The project, called Children’s Mercy with Mercy O’Reilly Pediatric Center, was announced in November 2025.
"It’s incredibly exciting to see this vision come to life. Every milestone brings us closer to a space designed entirely around kids and families," said Debbie Schwartzkopf, chief administration officer of Children’s Mercy with Mercy, in the release.
The two-story, 40,000-square-foot center, at 6375 S. Innovation Ave. on Mercy's south-side campus, is expected to open in December, officials say.
Pediatric specialty outpatient services are slated to include cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics and surgery, according to the release.
“Partnering with Children’s Mercy, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals, means we can bring even more pediatric expertise to the children and families we serve,” said John Myers, president of Mercy Springfield Communities, in the release. “Together, we’re connecting care teams and coordinating services so families in Springfield and across the region can access exceptional pediatric care closer to home.”
Mercy Springfield Communities' pediatric agreement with Children’s Mercy became effective on Nov. 1, 2025, according to past reporting.
