Lebanon car dealership owner charged with fraud

Posted online

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt's office filed charges against a Lebanon car dealership owner.

Marcus James Hill is accused of allegedly engaging in 13 violations of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act at his dealerships, Variety Auto Sales and Hilltop Auto Sales, according to a news release. Hill is facing 13 felony counts of deceptive business practices through the charges filed in Laclede County.

Schmitt's office alleges in the charges that Hill falsely promised consumers they would receive proper titles and warranties when buying used vehicles. Hill allegedly failed to provide titles and honor warranties. In at least one case, he allegedly did not provide the customer a purchased vehicle, according to the release.

Hill is a prior felony offender of burglary and other crimes, according to the charging documents.
