John Deere has acquired remanufacturer ReGen Technologies with plans to set up headquarters for John Deere's new remanufacturing segment in Springfield.
Moline, Ill.-based John Deere formed ReGen, 4500 E. Mustard Way, 10 years ago with another Springfield company, SRC Holdings Corp., and each held 50 percent ownership, according to John Deere spokesman Jason Daly. SRC sold its half for an undisclosed price in a deal that closed Nov. 3.
An SRC representative could not be reached for comment.
ReGen will be renamed John Deere Reman, and John Deere's newly formed remanufacturing unit will be based in Springfield. That decision will mean additional jobs and operations in Springfield, but Daly couldn't disclose specifics.
"We aspire to an enhanced leadership position in the remanufacturing business," said Barry Schaffer, senior vice president of manufacturing in John Deere's Construction & Forestry division, in a news release. "ReGen has delivered impressive business results through a dedication to quality and ingenuity."
ReGen remanufactured equipment exclusively for John Deere. Its line included engines, engine components, fuel injection systems, starters, alternators and air conditioning components, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
