GKN Aerospace announced plans to close a St. Louis-area plant by the end of 2023.
Union officials representing 570 workers at the plant said they were “shocked and saddened” by the decision and vowed to use their resources to protect the employees.
GKN officials said the Hazelwood plant that makes metallics materials for aircraft has struggled with profitability.
