Project description: Construction on the 48-bed facility at the southwest corner of Evans Road and U.S. Highway 65 began in March 2011. St. John’s Health System, an affiliate of St. Louis-based Mercy, received Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee approval for the orthopedic hospital in mid-2010, and officials have said the hospital was needed to serve an aging population in southwest Missouri. Mercy spokeswoman Lisa Cox said the hospital would employ roughly 250. Missouri Economic Research and Information Center projects the hospital will produce a 10-year statewide economic output of $318.2 million, Cox said.
