The city of Springfield is seeking to bolster its workforce by filling hundreds of openings.
Katherine Trombetta, spokesperson for the Missouri Job Center at the city, said there are 170 full-time positions across nine departments available. Additionally, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board has 250 seasonal part-time positions opening up in the spring and summer, she said.
To address the shortage, the Missouri Job Center has scheduled a March 8 job fair at its 2900 E. Sunshine St. office, according to a news release. Trombetta said she believes it’s the first such event the Missouri Job Center has held for the city.
“We are excited to host this event and highlight the need for dedicated public servants in various city departments,” said Sally Payne, director of workforce development for the city, in the release. "These jobs play a vital role in ensuring the city runs effectively and efficiently for our community."
Rochelle Yoap, assistant director of human resources for the city, said in the release that the jobs vary "from the airport to the zoo and everything in between."
The city of Springfield ranked No. 7 on Springfield Business Journal's 2021 list of the area's largest employers, with 2,369 employees as of July 19.
