Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has penned a new contract with a hospital in Parsons, Kansas.
The deal, which became effective Jan. 1, makes Springfield-based CBCO the exclusive provider of blood, plasma and platelets for Labette Health, according to a news release.
With the contract in place, CBCO now is the sole provider to patients at 45 hospitals in southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas and northwest Arkansas.
"We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Labette partners and affiliates to strengthen and support the community blood supply," said Anthony Roberts, CBCO's executive director, in the release. "This expansion aligns with our commitment to ensuring a reliable and ample blood resource for the health care needs of the community.”
The financial details of the contract were not provided in the release. Hospitals buy products from CBCO, which operates as a nonprofit, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
"Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has proven itself to be a dependable partner," said Christina Sykes, vice president and chief operating officer of Labette Health, in the release. "This partnership underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring a consistent and dependable blood source for the health care needs of the community."
Downtown problems partly a product of perception, officials say.
