CB Social House to reopen as Social

CB Social House is scheduled to reopen Feb. 6 as Social under “consolidated ownership,” according to a Facebook post.

“I’m personally inviting you to enjoy our new restaurant that preserves all the wonderful aspects of the social house you've come to expect and to join with us in building an experience you'll want to share with others,” the post, signed by chef Daniel Stern, reads.

Stern could not be reached for comment by deadline. City Butcher and Barbecue owner Cody Smith, who with Jeremy Smith launched CB Social House in 2014 at 314 S. Patton Ave., did not respond to multiple phone calls and emails. SBJ was issued a statement that said Cody Smith "has decided to concentrate his efforts in building the City Butcher business by relinquishing his ownership, entrusting the vision and menu with Daniel."

However, CB Social House General Manager Doug Riddle sent SBJ a Facebook direct message that said Stern is not the owner.

“Daniel has been given creative control by an ownership group that wishes to remain publicly anonymous,” Riddle said in the message.

The Jan. 24 Facebook post indicates Social is adding a private dining and meeting room for up to 40 people, as well as expanded chef’s table accommodations for up to 10 for guests to taste food prepared by the head chef.

Social will be open 4-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The restaurant previously announced it was discontinuing brunch service.

Social resides in a building owned by Scott Tillman. The space previously housed Hickok’s Steakhouse & Brewery 2005–08, and for a short stint, DeCarlos Italian Cafe.
