A two-year member of the Branson Board of Aldermen yesterday submitted her letter of resignation, citing a change in residence.
Alderwoman Betsy Seay, who has represented the city’s Ward 3, is scheduled to step down from her post Sept. 1, according to a news release.
Seay, the owner of Branson Security Services Inc., ran unopposed and was re-elected to the board in April. Seay has moved out of her district and can no longer serve in her board seat, per city code.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Branson for the last two and a half years. Thank you to all of you who believed in me and trusted me to do the right thing even though it was difficult,” Seay wrote in her resignation letter, which according to the release, was read by Mayor Karen Best at last night’s aldermen meeting.
The board is scheduled to formally honor Seay at its Sept. 11 meeting.
The city will begin taking applications for two weeks starting Sept. 4. Best will choose a name from the list, and that person then would go before the board for approval, according to the release.
The new board member would serve until the next official election in April 2019.
