Arvest Bank acquires former Carson's Nursery lot

Posted online
Arvest Bank has purchased the former location of Carson's Nursery at 3184 E. Sunshine St.

The 1.73-acre lot will be used for the construction of a full-service Arvest Bank branch, according to a news release.

“This will be the third branch that we’ve built from the ground up in approximately two and a half years from when we opened our first in November 2008,” Mike Daw, president of Arvest Bank in Springfield, said in the release.

At its July 12 meeting, Springfield City Council approved a rezoning request for the property from the nursery's parent company CY Properties LLC. At that time, the buyer's name was undisclosed and the sale, which was contingent on the rezoning, had not been finalized, according to Springfield Business Journal coverage.

The original December 2009 listing price was $1.6 million but the price had dropped to $1.3 million by July.

The Arvest news release did not disclose financial terms.

The newest Arvest branch at the intersection of Chestnut Expressway and National Avenue opened in late July.

The new branch will mark the eighth full-service location in the area. There are currently three in Springfield, two in Branson, one in Nixa and one in Hollister. The bank operates more than 230 branches in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma.[[In-content Ad]]
