Higginbotham Insurance Agency Inc.

Posted online

With a little over three years in the insurance industry, offering property and casualty and workers’ compensation insurance, Dawson Nimmo makes his clients’ needs a focus.

“As a trusted adviser, my role is to serve as a knowledgeable and reliable resource for my clients’ businesses when it comes to insurance matters,” he says.

“I take the time to understand their unique operations, identify potential risk and recommend the appropriate coverages/limits to protect them in the event of a loss.”

Nimmo says he works to ensure his clients have coverage that is tailored specifically to their needs.

“This minimizes the risk of being underinsured or paying for unnecessary coverage,” he says. “By conducting a thorough risk assessment, I can proactively identify emerging risk and help my clients stay ahead of potential threats.”

Nimmo says he stays on top of industry trends through his membership in professional organizations like The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research and The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, known in the industry as The Big I.

“Staying up to date with the latest trends in the commercial insurance industry is crucial to providing the best services to clients,” he says. “Some of the recent trends include the rise of cyber insurance due to increased cyber threats, the integration of technology in insurance processes and alternative risk financing options.”

He notes he actively participates in industry learning seminars and workshops, and he also engages in continuous professional development by pursuing certifications.

Observing Nimmo in action is his friend of eight years, Collin Gimlin of Prime Capital Investment Advisors LLC.

“I am beyond proud of how Dawson has held himself as a friend and businessman,” Gimlin says. “No one in my opinion works harder than he does and constantly strives towards providing a top-tier client service.”

Nimmo has experienced dynamic growth in his time at Higginbotham, managing 58 clients and billing $4.4 million in 2023 – up from 11 clients and $1.8 million in billing the year before.

Nimmo says he is the preferred broker for the Missouri Association of Manufacturing.

“By actively participating in meetings, workshops and events, I stay connected with manufacturers and understand their unique insurance struggles,” he says.
