White River Connect, a subsidiary of White River Valley Electric Cooperative, has brought fiber service to Spokane as part of a multiyear network expansion.
The high-speed internet project in Spokane is part of plans to offer service in rural portions of Christian, Stone and Taney counties, according to a news release.
“Our teams have been working hard to bring reliable, high-speed internet to more of our region, and we’re proud to be ahead of schedule as service becomes available in Spokane,” WRVEC CEO Beau Jackson said in the release. “Serving the people of Spokane and surrounding rural communities with the connectivity they need is an important part of our commitment. We look forward to completing this project and delivering long-term benefits to more families and businesses.”
Work started in 2023 on White River Connect's service expansion throughout Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone and Taney counties. The project was originally estimated as a $260 million, five-year project, according to past reporting.
The company intends to wrap the project by the end of this summer. It's currently 90% complete, according to the release.
