The Roost targets October opening for fourth restaurant

The Roost Bar and Grill is opening its fourth restaurant.

An October opening is targeted at 2924 E. Sunshine St., said Mike Flavin, who owns The Roost with business partner Gene Lofaro. The Southern Hills Shopping Center space previously housed the Pitch Pizza & Pub, which closed in February. 

Declining to disclose startup costs, Flavin said the space is undergoing an extensive renovation.

"We are completely gutting the place – opening it up," he said. "It's going to be a complete remodel."

Upon completion, The Roost's fourth location would include a game area for families, a restaurant area and a meeting space, Flavin said. The restaurant would have the same menu, with burgers, pizza and wraps among its offerings.

In business since 2009, The Roost will fill a need on the east side, Flavin said.

"There's not many things out that way that are like us," he said.

The Roost currently has two Springfield restaurants and one in Republic.
