Springfield Public Schools hired former Willard Public Schools Superintendent Matt Teeter.
Teeter started July 1 at SPS in the newly created role of leadership development coordinator, said SPS spokesperson Teresa Bledsoe.
"Dr. Teeter has a wealth of experience and knowledge that makes him an ideal mentor for our future leaders," said Nicole Holt, deputy superintendent of academics, in a provided statement. "He will be a great resource for them not only in developing their leadership skills but in how they can support effective teaching and learning in their current roles."
In the new position at SPS, Teeter is responsible for providing professional development and mentoring district leaders who aspire to progress their careers. Leadership growth within the district has been a priority of SPS Superintendent Grenita Lathan, officials said.
Teeter's annual salary in the role is $108,022, Bledsoe said.
Last year, Teeter submitted his resignation from Willard Public Schools for personal reasons, according to past reporting. He worked for the remainder of the academic year through June 30.
The Willard Public Schools Board of Education in February announced the appointment of Eric Wilken as the district's new superintendent. Wilken previously was assistant superintendent of operations.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
