Pitt Technology Group adds to AI services

Posted online

After announcing early last year its rollout of private artificial intelligence infrastructure solutions, a Springfield-based technology company has added a new service model in that field.

Pitt Technology Group LLC has launched Managed AI, a service model that handles AI setup, integration and ongoing management, according to a news release. Officials say its new service is aimed at businesses that desire to use AI but don’t have internal staff to properly implement it.

While many AI tools require companies to figure out the implementation themselves, Pitt Technology Group officials say in the release that Managed AI connects a client’s existing software, such as email, customer relationship management software and ticketing systems, directly to AI. Doing so allows AI to work from real company data and eliminate guesswork, officials say.

“A lot of companies buy an AI subscription and then nothing really changes,” said Jesse Thomas, AI program manager at Pitt Technology Group, in the release. “We come in, build the actual connections between your tools and the AI, guide your team on how to use it and manage everything going forward. It ends up working like having a diversely skilled in-house AI team – without having to hire an individual.”

Tyler Drenon, technology strategist at Pitt Technology Group, said the company began promoting the service late last month following an approximately two-month exploratory period with six of its clients. He declined to identify the companies, noting Pitt Technology Group used the time to refine the service prior to a broader release.

Managed AI comes after the tech company announced its expansion into AI services in February 2025. Its AI services include custom training, hosted AI services and on-premises AI infrastructure, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

“We are not looking to make folks sign a long-term contract. We’re not trying to get them onboarded into a software platform that only we provide so that they can’t move around,” Drenon said.

Managed AI is priced as a monthly per-user service, officials say. Drenon said pricing is custom built for each client, and the service is offered month-to-month with no contract.

“Our model’s never been to handcuff people to us, and we’re not going to start now,” Drenon said. “This is a service because we believe that people are going to be more and more self-sufficient with AI as time passes. We can be there to help when they can’t quite get to the finish line, or they don’t necessarily have their own internal security professionals or experts. We can provide that insight.”

With Managed AI, the tech company handles installation, onboards the client’s team and supports them through real-world use. It also provides clients with monthly support, security management and quarterly check-ins, according to the release.

“There is some configuration that needs to take place and some planning to go into it and have frameworks and the overall sort of strategy in place,” Drenon said. “That’s one way we can help as well is working with leaders at companies to find out where automation and AI can really make a difference.”

Customer data stays on premises and is not used to train any public AI models, according to the release.

“I would say security is one of the most important parts of this in our role,” Drenon said. “Coming from an (internet technology) perspective, that’s what we focus on all the time. Our software programmers and our IT technicians work together to make sure that companies are staying safe. I know that every conversation we have with the client, it’s brought up either by us immediately or that’s always one of the main concerns.”

Thomas said in the release that with Managed AI, Pitt Technology Group isn’t dropping off software and walking away.

“We treat it like the rest of managed IT – it’s something you maintain,” he said. “The businesses that get the most out of AI are the ones treating it that way.”
