Computer Innovations
An ownership change took place April 10 for longtime retailer Computer Innovations. Chad Albert said he bought the 26-year-old business at 308 E. Republic Road from Steve and Carol Yates for an undisclosed price. The company, which Albert said changed its name in 2015 from Computer Renaissance, sells new and refurbished PC and Mac computers. It also offers off-site and in-store repairs and sells computer parts, cables and peripherals. Albert said he signed a five-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Tillman Properties LLC. He leads a staff of six at the 2,835-square-foot store. Albert said he’s been involved in the information technology industry for over 25 years. That includes being the past senior vice president of technical operations at Healthcarefirst Inc., where he was part owner before exiting in 2017. Albert said he became interested in purchasing Computer Innovations after learning the Yateses wished to retire.

Bee Flight Aerial Services
Ozark home-based company Bee Flight Aerial Services took flight March 12. Owner William Kinner employs three for his venture, which offers aerial photography and video production using drones. He said the company provides services for numerous purposes, including real estate photography, hotel promotions and social events, such as weddings. Kinner and his employees are licensed through the Federal Aviation Administration as well as insured. Startup costs were $23,000, he said, adding plans in 2023 are to build an office in Highlandville. Kinner said his father, who did aerial photography in the 1960s using remote-control airplanes and film cameras with timers, was the inspiration for him to start Bee Flight. After taking photos and videos for his friends using drones the past three years, Kinner said he decided to launch his first business.

Ozarks Elder Law
Another office for Springfield-based Ozarks Elder Law LLC relocated this year with the firm’s May 1 move in Bolivar. Owner and managing attorney Lori Rook said the law firm expanded to a larger space with its relocation to 640 E. Buffalo St. from 910 E. San Martin St. The 1,200-square-foot space formerly was occupied by outpatient clinic Correction Services. Rook declined to disclose relocation costs or the rate of her one-year lease with DCBC LLC. The Bolivar office is open by appointment only. The firm’s original San Martin Street location opened in early 2021 and marked its debut in Polk County, Rook said, noting the former space was temporary until a long-term office was found. With other offices in Springfield, Branson, Joplin, Lebanon, Marshfield, Nixa, Ozark and Republic, the firm handles legal needs of the elderly and disabled. The company also relocated its Nixa office June 1.
