Nothum Food Processing Systems has consolidated all of its U.S. operations under one roof with a move earlier this month into a 92,000-square-foot Springfield headquarters.
The facility is located at 3039 E. Pythian St.
Nothum manufactures predust, batter, breading and frying equipment, meaning the expansion shores up its contribution to the region’s identity as a top 25 food manufacturing center, according to a ranking released in September 2025 by Global Location Strategies.
Consolidating U.S. operations under one roof is intended to increase capacity and efficiency, according to a news release from Nothum. Staffing the facility will be some 100 Nothum employees, representing manufacturing, inventory, logistics, sales, customer support, finance, human resources, marketing, engineering, development and programming.
Through Nothum's focus on continuous improvement, customers will receive all-encompassing packages from a single location, the release states. Nothum customers can test equipment, see their machines in production and perform factory acceptance testing in one place before shipment to their factory.
The new facility also enables Nothum to remain in Springfield, where the company was founded and has had its home for more than half a century.
Nothum's new headquarters highlights productivity and planned growth, the release states, noting dual highway access points facilitate shipping and receiving, while energy-saving options focus on sustainability.
The announcement adds that the facility will attract and welcome new employees and assist the company in increasing its community involvement.
According to past Springfield Business Journal reporting, the 42,000-square-foot addition to Nothum’s existing building cost $8 million. The project included 12,000 square feet of new office space to include an expanded employee breakroom, multiple conference rooms and an open office area, plus an additional production plant of 30,000 square feet with new shipping and receiving bays.
The professional team for the project included architect OzMo LLC, general contractor Construct Cos. LLC and engineers Own Inc., civil; RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, structural; and Jennifer Winslow PE LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Nothum advertises tailored designs to meet unique customer needs with high performance. Nothum serves the poultry, seafood, appetizer, alternative-protein and snack food industries with products designed to maximize flavor and minimize food waste. The company has another manufacturing site in the Netherlands and is part of Texas-based Fortifi Food Processing Solutions.
