Mid-Missouri Bank shakes up leadership

Posted online

Springfield-based Mid-Missouri Bank announced a host of changes in its C-suite.

The company announced the retirement of CEO Eric McClure and promotion of President Brian Riedy, as well as a new executive hire in Michael Miller, managing member at Lowther Johnson Attorneys at Law LLC, according to a news release.

McClure, who became president and CEO of Mid-Missouri Bank in August 2010, is scheduled to retire next year. Riedy, who’s currently president and board chairman, is slated to take on the CEO role when McClure retires. Mid-Missouri Bank spokesman Andrew Moore said McClure is planning a traditional retirement but will remain on the company’s board of directors.

A member of Springfield Business Journal’s recently honored class of 40 Under 40 and grandson of former Mid-Missouri Bank Chairman Lee Gilbert, Riedy also is the current chief operating officer — but not for long.

The COO position is being taken over by Miller, who also will serve as general counsel for the bank, starting in early May, according to the release.

“I’ve always been passionate about my clients, and working with Mid-Missouri Bank over the years as outside counsel gave me a glimpse inside their culture and their long-term plans. I wanted to be a part of that future and the bank had a leadership opportunity for which I was a perfect fit,” Miller said in the release. “Brian will be able to devote ample attention to his ongoing role as bank president in addition to taking on new responsibilities as I assume COO duties and bring legal counsel in-house.”

Miller, who also will serve as an advisory director to Mid-Missouri Bank, has worked at Lowther Johnson since 2004. He’s been recognized for the past five years as a Rising Star by law publication Super Lawyers, according to the release.

Mid-Missouri Bank had 13 branches in 10 communities, as well as six insurance locations. A June 2020 completion is expected for its new operations and retail center being built in front of its current headquarters along Independence Street in south Springfield.
