Lawmakers called back over Postal Service changes

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, is calling back lawmakers early from their August recess in an attempt to block the U.S. Postal Service from making operational changes.

A vote is expected this week on the Delivering for America Act, which would prohibit the USPS from making changes to its operations or level of service that it had in place at the start of 2020.

Louis DeJoy, postmaster general since mid-June, has implemented changes that have slowed mail deliveries. President Donald Trump last week said he has worked to block funding for the USPS to make it more difficult for the agency to process mail-in ballots. He has cited increased voter fraud chances if mail-in voting expands this election.
