The Springfield-Greene County Health Department warned of a potential COVID-19 exposure on the north side.

Health officials say an individual who had coronavirus symptoms on May 10 visited the Walmart Supercenter at 1923 E. Kearney St., according to a news release.

The person, who was not named, had not yet been diagnosed with the virus at the time of the visit to the store, said Health Department spokesperson Kathryn Wall. The release indicates the individual recently was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Health Department officials say people who also visited the north-side Walmart on May 10 are at low risk of contracting the virus. However, they should monitor for its symptoms, including cough, fever and shortness of breath.

It's the second announcement by the Health Department of a potential exposure in less than a week. Officials announced May 8 that a person with symptoms went to a handful of businesses May 2-5, including the Walmart store at 2021 E. Independence St.

The cases follow reopening orders issued by the city of Springfield and Greene County.

Local health officials as of this morning recorded 105 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Greene County. There are 12 active cases, according to a Health Department dashboard posted to SpringfieldMo.gov.
