Grand opening marks wine retailer's Springfield debut

Bethesda, Maryland-based Total Wine & More is now officially operating in the Queen City.

The wine retailer has scheduled a 6 p.m.-8 p.m. grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony this evening at the 3308 S. Glenstone Ave. store., according to the Springfield store's Facebook page. A public Facebook post from the store's assistant manager indicates May 20 was the official launch date for the store. 

An advertising mailer sent to Springfield residents touts the store's "unbelievable selection."

"A typical store carries over 8,000 unique wines – with up to a quarter of a million bottles on the shelves – over 4,500 unique spirits and over 2,500 unique beers," the mailer reads.

The Glenstone Avenue store is Total Wine & More's first Springfield location. It occupies the roughly 30,000-square-foot former Bed Bath & Beyond space in Primrose Marketplace.

The Total Wine space is part of the westernmost portion of Primrose Marketplace, along with Ross Dress for Less and Marshalls, that was acquired earlier this year by Agree Central LLC, an entity tied to Royal Oak, Michigan-based Agree Realty Corp. (NYSE: ADC), according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
