General Motors announced it would lay off workers at its Wentzville assembly plant near St. Louis.
Officials categorized the cuts as temporary, saying the plant would go to two shifts from three. There are 1,250 workers per shift.
There is no set time frame on the length of the layoffs, a spokesperson said.
