Project description: Verizon Wireless national retailer Russell Cellular is moving its headquarters about 2 miles north in Battlefield. Relocating from 5624 S. State Highway FF, company officials have said they’ll consolidate multiple leased offices and bring payroll, human resources, information technology, inventory and other back-office functions under one roof. Sales Vice President Nathan Mindeman said 115 workers will immediately occupy the new space, which is designed with a training center, catering kitchen, recreational areas for pingpong, foosball and gaming systems, and a staff marketplace for food and drink purchases. Russell Cellular capped off a three-year growth curve with $318.3 million in 2017 revenue, representing a 41 percent increase 2015-17, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The firm expects to create 135 new jobs over five years to add to its current count of 1,700 employees across some 400 stores in 30 states. According to the project profile on Larry Snyder and Co.’s website, the office is being constructed with aluminum panels, horizontal metal wall panels and fiber cement siding. Terracon Consultants Inc. is the geotechnical engineer, and interior design work is being handled by Creative Design Consultants Inc.
