Forvis Mazars CEO's tenure expanded by board

Posted online

The CEO of Forvis Mazars LLP will continue on in the company's top role following a reappointment by the company's board.

Tom Watson, who has been CEO since June 2021 and a company employee for more than 30 years, is slated to serve another four-year term starting June 1, 2026, according to a news release issued by the firm on Sept. 25.

“Tom’s reappointment reflects our partners’ trust in his ability to guide the firm forward and drive for excellence in all we aim to do,” said Tim York, chair of the Forvis Mazars governing board, in the release. “Under his leadership, we have achieved significant, deliberate growth and positioned ourselves as a global leader. We look forward to the next chapter with high degrees of optimism and strategic focus."

Forvis Mazars has a partnership agreement that stipulates the CEO selection process every four years.

As CEO, Watson has led the firm through two name changes: first to FORVIS in 2022 upon the merger of Springfield-based BKD LLP and Charlotte, North Carolina-based Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, dba DHG, and second to Forvis Mazars in 2024 to recognize a partnership between the company and Paris-based international audit, tax and advisory firm Mazars Group.

Forvis Mazars this year ranked No. 10 on Inside Public Accounting's annual list of the top 500 firms. The ranking was based on the company's net revenue of $2.2 billion.

“Serving as CEO of Forvis Mazars is the honor of a lifetime,” Watson said in the release. “I am blessed every day to serve alongside an amazing leadership team that has helped us rapidly achieve many key strategic objectives. As we look toward the future, my focus remains on making smart investments, delivering consistent value for clients and unlocking the potential of our team members so that they can be bold and thrive.”

Forvis Mazars has a regional office based in the Queen City.
