Reporter's Notebook: Looking at the 22 area projects compiled in this edition of Springfield Business Journal’s Construction in the Ozarks series, I had to haul out my calculator to crunch the numbers. Here, we have nearly 1.2 million square feet of construction (plus 200 linear feet of boardwalk at the Dickerson Park Zoo), reflecting almost $315 million in project costs. As always, there’s a smorgasbord of flavors, from school and university projects to centers of business and industry, and the photos assembled by our team begin to peel back the layer of mystery we often feel when we drive by a site and wonder what it might become. Enjoy this peek at the structures that are taking shape. If you’re like me, you’ll be heartened to note some big things are happening in our little corner of the world. —Karen Craigo, Reporter
