The parent company of Monett-based EFCO Corp. is shutting down the windows manufacturer's Springfield operations.
An official with Minneapolis-based Apogee Enterprises Inc. (Nasdaq: APOG) this morning provided a statement indicating facilities in Springfield would close at the end of February. KY3 was the first to report on the closures.
"This is a part of an ongoing effort to integrate and consolidate Apogee’s overall business," the statement reads, indicating the company's presence in Monett wouldn’t be impacted.
The decision affects roughly 75 Springfield employees, the majority of whom have been offered comparable positions in Monett, according to the statement.
EFCO in 2010 opened a 45,000-square-foot service center at 2030 N. Alliance Ave. in Partnership Industrial Center West, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. A nearby 51,000-square-foot building at 4320 W. Kearney St. was leased to the manufacturer in 2017.
EFCO was purchased in 2017 by Apogee from Pella Corp. for roughly $195 million, according to a news release issued at the time.
The Fuldner founding family sold the company to Iowa-based Pella in 2007 for more than $90 million, according to SBJ archives. Founded in 1953 in St. Louis, EFCO moved to Monett in 1957.
