A dance studio is slated to take the place of Primas Mexican Grill in Chesterfield Village.
Dan Parmele said he and his wife, Diana, and Drury University dance instructor MacKenzie Manning are co-owners in the new venture called Studio 3 Dance Academy LLC.
"We're shooting for July 1, if possible, for dance camps," Dan Parmele said, noting Studio 3 Dance Academy is a reference to the couple's three daughters, who are dancers.
The 2101 W. Chesterfield Blvd., Ste. A100, space currently is occupied by Primas, which announced in a Facebook post yesterday that its last day at the location is May 22.
"With the sale of our building brings an early end to our lease," the post, signed by the Hernandez ownership family, reads. "We appreciate all of the memories you've made with us, all of your kids we've watched grow up, the events you let us celebrate with you and your wonderful smiles that greeted us daily."
The staff at the Chesterfield Village location are being consolidated into Primas' locations on South Glenstone Avenue in Springfield and North 21st Street in Ozark, according to the Facebook post. Primas moved into the Chesterfield Village building in 2006, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
Parmele said he and his wife are patrons of Primas.
"It's sad to see them go," he said. "I wish we could keep them in Chesterfield Village."
Through DTown Real Estate LLC, Parmele purchased the building late last month, according to Greene County recorder data. He said the building was purchased for $1.6 million, with $240,000 in owner financing from former owner Montclair Capital LLC. Greene County assessor records put the square footage of the building at nearly 7,000.
Parmele said renovations are scheduled to start in early June as Primas exits. He said he's unsure how much the renovation investment would be, as bids are currently out for a contractor, though flooring should cost $90,000 to $100,000. Some of the interior will be kept intact, he said, noting the area where the bar is will be one of the dance studios.
In addition to Studio 3 Dance Academy, Dan Parmele operates Parmele Law Firm PC and Diana Parmele owns Time To Shine Dancewear LLC. Dan Parmele said Time To Shine would sell dancewear at the studio, as well.
Studio 3 Dance Academy will offer competitive dancing and other classes, Parmele said.
The space in Chesterfield Village is adjacent to SBJ’s office.
