High-dollar home listings in the Queen City climbed in October from a yearly low point in September, according to Southern Missouri Regional MLS data.
For the monthly editorial series Curb Appeal, Springfield Business Journal compiled a list of single-family homes within city limits that have an asking price of $500,000 or more. In October, listings that met the criteria came to 14 residences, compared with nine in September and 21 in August.
In the listings file last month, high-end homeowners collectively are seeking roughly $10 million. The top listing was for an east Springfield residence, which is asking $1.3 million for amenities including five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half bathrooms.
The local increase in high-end home listings come as nationwide mortgage rates tracked by government-sponsored enterprise Freddie Mac continue to decrease.
Freddie Mac yesterday reported a 2.78% rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages and a 2.23% rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages. Both are the lowest in the roughly 50 years that Freddie Mac has tracked the data, according to a report.
CNN Business reports mortgage rates have hit record lows 12 times in 2020.
