Mortgage rates hit another record low

Mortgage rates have hit a record low for the 12th time this year.

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage moved down to 2.78%. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage decreased to 2.32%.

The 30-year rate is the lowest level in the nearly 50 years that Freddie Mac has surveyed the figure.

"Despite the uncertainty that we've all experienced this year, the housing market, buoyed by low rates, continues to be a bright spot," said Sam Khater, Freddie Mac's chief economist.
