A new comedy club is being planned as part of a growing portfolio of entertainment options at the Plaza Towers property at Sunshine Street and Glenstone Avenue.
Plaza Towers owner Trent Overhue said the comedy club, called Towers Comedy Club, is expected to open in first-quarter 2026 at the Plaza Towers Center.
"It'll be a pretty cool little location, and it'll be something unique for Springfield," he said of the approximately 6,000- to 7,000-square-foot venture in the corner of the shopping center that's adjacent to Plaza Towers. "I think it ties in well with what we're doing. We're trying to make an entertainment destination over here."
Those plans include Scratch & Co., a roughly 7,000-square-foot restaurant on the first floor of the Plaza Towers building. Noting a first-quarter 2026 opening is planned, Overhue said the restaurant would serve "traditional comfort food with healthy portions" and "an awesome drink menu."
Scratch & Co. would have access to an elevator that would take customers to a rooftop bar and event center, he said. The event center's first event was scheduled in October, and The Daily Blend coffee shop, a roughly 1,500-square-foot venture on the first floor of the building, held a grand opening Nov. 3, according to past reporting.
Overhue declined to estimate startup costs for the various entertainment ventures.
Overhue bought the 10-story, 130,000-square-foot Plaza Towers and adjacent shopping center in an April foreclosure sale. After the sale, he said he intended to revive plans for the coffee shop, event center and restaurant that had been envisioned under former ownership.
