Downtown Springfield bar and restaurant 417 Taphouse is closing after a decade in operation.
The business, which operates at 431 S. Jefferson Ave., Ste. 160, in Wilhoit Plaza, announced in a Facebook post yesterday that Aug. 31 would be its final day open. 417 Taphouse offers a self-serve bar with myriad craft beers, a pub-style menu and games.
"To our patrons who became friends, to our friends who became family and to our bar family who stood by us through every late night, every crazy rush, COVID and every quiet moment in between – we couldn’t have done this without you. You made this place what it was," the post reads. "While it’s hard to say goodbye, we feel nothing but gratitude for every single person who has walked through our doors these past 10 years. You gave this bar its soul and made it what it was, and for that, we will forever be thankful."
A reason was not given for the closure, and 417 Taphouse officials declined to comment this morning.
417 Taphouse opened in September 2015 via Basement Dweller Holdings LLC, and the founding business partners were Zachery Campbell, Harry Crawford and Danny Brewer, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
The space in Wilhoit Plaza previously housed Farmers Gastropub, which relocated in late 2013 to Brentwood Center North.
