$2M expansion in the works at Honda of the Ozarks

Motorcycle and utility vehicle dealership Honda of the Ozarks is in expansion mode in northeast Springfield.

The company, launched in 2012 by Dennis Revell, is targeting an October completion date for a roughly 20,000-square-foot expansion that comprises a new showroom and warehouse space, said Emilie Hallgren, the company's marketing and events coordinator. She said via email that the expansion's price tag is "just north of $2 million."

General Manager Denny Revell told members of the media on Friday at the 2055 E. Kerr St. dealership that the new showroom would operate under the Ozarks Powersports name. It would carry Indian Motorcycle, Kawasaki, Slingshot and Triumph brands.

"There's a couple open spots for different (original equipment manufacturers) here in the area," he said.

Hallgren said Stinson Building Co. is serving as general contractor for the project. The expansion area is immediately south of the current dealership, Revell said, noting a new entrance and "whole new front end" would be added for Ozarks Powersports.

Honda of the Ozarks currently operates in around 22,000 square feet, said Hallgren. The business, which fronts Interstate 44 just east of the Glenstone Avenue exit, is a Level- 5 Honda Powerhouse dealership, a certification issued by the automotive manufacturer.

Honda of the Ozarks opened in June 2012 following the completion of the $1.7 million facility, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Its product line comprises motorcycles, utility vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, scooters and power equipment.
