Yum Brands expands fast-casual concept Super Chix

Yum Brands (NYSE: YUM), the parent company for Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, is forwarding plans for its more upscale chicken venture, Super Chix.

Yum will open its second Super Chix location next month in Dallas, 11 months after it launched the first in Arlington, Texas. The brand specializes in chicken tenders and fried chicken sandwiches, with hand-cut fries and frozen custard.

This isn’t Yum’s first foray into the fast-casual space. The company opened KFC eleven – a fast-casual spin on its premier chicken chain – near Louisville two years ago. It also opened U.S. Taco Co. – a fancier version of Taco Bell, featuring items such as $10 lobster tacos – in California last year.
