Yuan slides to lowest level in nearly 8 years

China's yuan fell to its lowest level against the dollar in nearly eight years Tuesday.

The value of one dollar rose as high as 6.87 yuan, its highest point since Dec. 9, 2008.

The fall in value of the Chinese currency has quickened since Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election. Trump often was critical of China during his presidential election campaign.
