YouTube expected to channel $5.6B in revenue this year

Posted online
Google-owned video service YouTube is expected to record $5.6 billion in gross revenue this year, according to estimates from eMarketer. That's up 51 percent from 2012 and would equate to 11 percent of Google's total ad revenues, according to an Ad Age report.

Google is expected to keep about 35 percent of that total, or $1.96 billion, while it pays out portions to advertising partners and content creators.

Just two years ago, YouTube grabbed about $600 million, or 30 percent, of its gross revenue, paying out the remaining $1.4 billion to advertising partners and content creators, according to the report.
