Yet another BBQ brand will be owned by a KC company

The City of Fountains is no stranger to barbecue, and now, a Kansas City-based company can add one more summer staple to its lineup.

Garden Complements Inc. acquired the Curley's Famous Barbecue Sauces brand from CHS Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

The Kansas City Business Journal reports Garden Complements is a private-label contract food processing company. The company will add Curley's to a line of signature brands that include Heritage, Amigo, Campfire, Aussie, Gaetano's and Heritage Veggie Options.

Curley's Hickory Barbecue Sauce was developed in 1955 by Curley Atwood in Winfield, Kan. It will be sold through Dillons, Kroger, Price Chopper, Walmart and other retail outlets.
